Lower eyelid surgery can be done by conventional or laser surgery.
This kind of surgery is usually an outpatient procedure in local anaesthesia performed in our facilities in Grünwald, Munich. The incisions follow natural skin lines about 1-2 mm below the lid where skin, muscle and fat pads are being resected or reduced. Depending on the individual case fat reduction is not always necessary. The fat pads prolapsing from the orbit (“baggy eyelids”) can also be used for smoothing and contouring the lower lid area (fat transfer).
During laser surgery excessive adipose tissue is being excised from the interior through the conjunctiva. Wrinkles are being reduced in terms of skin resurfacing.
The operation takes about 60 minutes and can be done as an outpatient procedure in local anaesthesia, half-sleep or, if requested, general anaesthesia.
It usually takes about 10 days to recover. During the first days past the surgery you should do some cooling with iced water. All kinds of sports can be practiced again after about 3 weeks past surgery.
